Idris Elba linked to James Bond role again
Hollywood star, Idris Elba, has found himself linked once again to the James Bond film as the titular character with reports that the film producers feel it is time to have a non-white actor cast in the iconic role and Elba being favoured to fill that role.
Elba has long had to brush aside rumours of him being handed the role of secret agent James Bond in the 007 film series since 2014 when e-mails revealed at the time Sony was hacked showed then studio co-chair, Amy Pascal, stating to a colleague that Elba should be the next Bond.
The actor himself has on numerous occasions stated he would not be interested in playing Bond, even going as far as offering that the next 007 actor should be a woman. But Elba is said to be the favourite consideration for the role among the film’s producers.
Daniel Craig is currently playing the role of 007 in the films, though, he has stated his desire to leave the role behind despite still having one more James Bond film to make in his contract.
Craig has starred in four Bond movies – Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre – and is expected to star in a fifth one which would be the 25th Bond movie and is scheduled for a November 2019 worldwide release.
