Cookie is still popping on TV show, Empire, and the actress who plays the role to perfection, Taraji P. Henson, is popping a lot more now after revealing her engagement to Kelvin Hayden on Monday. Hayden had initially gifted Henson with a Cartier love bracelet to celebrate Mother’s Day before dropping on one knee to pop the question – almost making Henson to pass out, according to the actress.
Henson has been dating the former NFL star since 2015 but kept their relationship on the down-low, only speaking about it in December 2017. Six months later, the 42-year-old Hollywood star is ready to walk down the aisle with her love and you cannot feel anything but elated for her.
THE MARKLE DEBACLE
Meanwhile across the Atlantic in the UK, another Hollywood star, Megan Markle is preparing for her big day with Prince Harry. But it’s looking likely she may have to walk down the aisle without her father.
Markle’s dad recently recovered from a heart attack but also reportedly stated he would not want to embarrass his daughter at the royal wedding after the controversy between him and paparazzi. He’s accused of accepting as much as £100,000 to stage a photoshoot of him preparing for Meghan’s big day.
NIGERIA RELEASES PROVISIONAL SQUAD LIST AHEAD OF FOOTBALL’S BIGGEST EVENT
Nigeria has named a 30-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which kicks off in a month and it comprises the names you would expect along with a few new faces.
Coach Gernot Rohr named captain John Mikel Obi in the provisional squad along with Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Ogenyi Onazi, Wilfred Ndidi, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, and Elderson Echiejile.
Nigerian Professional Football League leading scorer Junior Lokosa is among the fresh names in the squad along with Stephen Eze and Simeon Nwankwo as the Super Eagles look to make a good impression this summer in Russia.
Nigeria has been drawn in Group D with 2014 finalists Argentina, Euro 2016 giant-killers Iceland, and a talented Croatia team.
Argentina on their part have also released a provisional squad list with Lionel Messi (of course) the highlight of the list which also includes Gonzalo Higuain, Angel di Maria, Sergio Agüero, Mauro Icardi, Ever Banega, Lucas Biglia, Nicolas Otamendi, and Sergio Romero.
Nigeria beat Argentina 4-2 in a friendly encounter earlier this year. Hopefully, the Super Eagles can repeat that result against Albiceleste who are favourites to win the group and make the knock-out stages.
MTN PAYS HALF A MILLION TO CUSTOMER OVER UNLAWFUL DEBIT OF CALL CREDIT
One Nigerian will be watching the 2018 World Cup a happy man after successfully suing telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria, at a Federal High Court in Ibadan, leading to being compensated with ₦500,000.
Oluwole Aluko, a lawyer, had taken MTN to court in 2016 for an alleged unlawful deduction of his call credit. As it turned out, MTN had no representation in court until the judgement day – with the telecoms company putting forward an application to set aside judgement because the company was never aware there was such case against it.
But Aluko was able to prove otherwise by presenting evidence of court summons sent to the company along with proof of receipt, leading to the court ordering MTN to pay the sum of ₦500,000 to Aluko – which he confirmed payment to the court on Monday to bring the case to a close.
