American, rapper, actor, TV producer and ultimate internet troll, 50 Cent, decided on a Twitter comeback after Instagram irked him by removing a post from his page without informing him first.
Fif’s trolling covered most of the bases in popular news – it didn’t take long before he subbed Kanye West, trolled a third person feeling super-cool in a photo with him and someone else. He even went for Mother’s Day!
50, who’s the producer and one of the stars on the crime thriller, “Power” (a new season is due this July), posted a photo showing a woman in a painting class intensely studying the groin region of a nude, well-built man standing right in front of her.
And all Fif had to say was, “This is the kind of art that made Mother’s Day. LOL”.
No one is safe from this guy!
ANOTHER MOTHER’S DAY
Speaking of, Sunday was Mother’s Day, again. Love to all the mothers in the world because it’s the least every woman deserves, which is probably why Sunday’s was about the fifth Mother’s Day celebration this year – since all of March.
For the men who are getting wound up with the high frequency of days set aside to celebrate mothers (yesterday’s was meant for a few countries but hey, this is a global village now), there surely will be a handful more days to celebrate the mothers.
Might as well just turn that frowm upside down and get with the program already.
PATIENCE JONATHAN, EFCC AND PLENTY MONEY
However, a woman many men and women will be looking at with side-eye or wide-eyed is former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, whose legal merry-go-round with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged embezzled money continues.
Her sparring with the EFCC stems from amounts and properties frozen, seized or forfeited temporarily, including $15.6 million which directors of four companies revealed in court was embezzled with their companies used as conduits.
Two properties in the high-brow Maitama district of Abuja were seized, along with $5.8 million and ₦2.4 billion, $8.4 million and ₦9.2 billion, as well as $4 million which are also being contested between EFCC and Dame Jonathan with the crux of the matter being for the former First Lady to prove all that chi-ching was acquired legally.
Hmm, aunty Patience, all these monies you’ve been stacking up… there is God o!
MAN. CITY KEPT BREAKING RECORDS TILL THE VERY END
One team in Europe spent the 2017/18 league season stacking up points, beating everyone’s favourite team at one point and another on their way to creating a new record – first to reach the 100 mark.
Manchester City started the (Sun)day with 97 points and were made to wait until the 93rd minute to score the only goal in their match at Southampton to claim the win and end the season with a staggering 100 points.
The goal by substitute, Gabriel Jesús, deep in stoppage time got the City players and bench celebrating deliriously as they knew what it meant in what has been a historic Premier League season for the Cityzens.
Other than becoming the first team to get 100 points in a campaign, Man. City also got the record for most wins in a season (32), biggest points difference between first and second (19 points), and most goals scored in a Premier League season (106).
BARCELONA’S UNBEATEN RUN ENDS IN A MOST DRAMATIC MANNER
Over in Spain, though, FC Barcelona were given a guard of honour ahead of their match at lowly Levante in what should have been one more match towards finishing the season unbeaten and becoming known as the Invincibles, too.
Levante gave a guard of honour all right and went right ahead to rip Barça’s honour apart by conjuring a 5-1 lead after a little over 50 minutes. Yes, Levante led almighty Barcelona (though without Lionel Messi) 5-1, despite Levante playing against the team that had already wrapped up the league title weeks ago.
Well, there’s a reason Barça have won the Spanish league title already and suddenly, their players began to show this – Philippe Coutinho scored two goals to complete his hat-trick before Luis Suárez put away a penalty with 18 minutes to go to make it 5-4 and set up a tense end to the match.
But Levante held on to end Barcelona’s unbeaten run in the penultimate game of the season – Barça were just two games away from achieving a feat never done in the Spanish league and were also within a goal of pulling off an unlikely comeback to keep that unbeaten run going. So you have a good picture of how hurt Barça players and fans feel right now.
To put it in perspective, Arsenal remains the last team in Europe’s top five leagues to have gone an entire season unbeaten, and that was 14 years ago!
LeBron and Cavaliers humbled in Game 1 of NBA Eastern Conference finals
Finally, the NBA Eastern Conference finals between Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers tipped off with the Celtics powering to a 108-83 win over LeBron’s team in Boston to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
LeBron James was restricted to just 15 points in the game, which is the lowest point haul he’s ever had in any play-off series, and he suffered seven turnovers on the night to sum up the game for the Cavaliers.
The Celtics will host Game 2 on Thursday and a win then would make them favourites to proceed to the NBA finals considering they have home court advantage should the series get to Game 7.
That said, LeBron remains unruffled, stating after the game that he’s been in teams that have overcome two-game deficits in previous play-off series. Okay LeBron, your pride clearly remains online for a reason. We are watching.
