Wowza! It is that time of the year again. The time when kids are really excited about the yearly Christmas Holiday Traditions that take place.
When I was little, one year was really long because I couldn’t wait for December. Every year, was not the same but my dad made it a holiday tradition to travel t
o the village for Christmas.
I guess we all have some kind family Christmas tradition that takes place every year so I took out the time to ask a few people about their family Christmas traditions and I’ll share them with you. I hope you share yours too.
Making chin chin
Chin chin was and is still the highlight of the season. Most families sit around to make chin chin and fry all the meat for Christmas on the 24th. In my family we would sing carols while working or play loud music and dance while working.
What is Christmas without new cloths and shoes? One for 25th December and one for 1st January. I’m sure many of us looked forward to this moment as kids. Some of us still look forward to sewing new church clothes for Christmas.
Attending carols is also another tradition. And it is always lovely. Singing hymns and carols just really puts you in the holiday mood.
I heard about this recently and I’m definitely stealing this idea. Every first December holiday cards are gotten and placed on the window rims till the festive season is over.
Church and Lunch
So Christmas lunch has always and will always be rice. Jollof rice, fried rice, white rice and stew. Its all rice. A lot of families cook the same thing for Christmas and you end up eating the same thing wherever you go. Do let me know if you eat anything else for lunch in your family on Christmas day.
There are so many Christmas Holiday traditions but I’m going to give you guys a chance to share yours.
